“Winning isn’t everything, but wanting it is… It’s a funny thing, the more I practice the luckier I get!” – Arnold Palmer.

Legendary gold icon Arnold Palmer passed away at the age of 87 this week.

The son of a greenskeeper, who wasn’t allowed to golf on the course his dad cared for, Palmer will forever be known as The King of Golf. A true champion, Palmer’s lifelong career as golf’s greatest ambassador led to accolades and achievements such as receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal, a 1974 induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame and bragging rights as the first golfer to surpass $1 million in earnings.

RIP, Mr. Palmer. You will be missed.

10 facts every Coco Chanel fan should know

In honor of the style icon’s 133rd birthday (August 19), here are 10 facts that every Chanel fan should know.

Her story is one of true “rags to riches.”
Though she died a wealthy woman, Gabrielle Chanel was born in a poorhouse, the daughter of a street vendor.

She was raised by nuns.
After her mother passed away, Chanel was sent to an orphanage at the age of 12. It was there that she learned how to sew.

Her first career was singing.
Back when she was known as Gabrielle, Chanel sang atParisian cafes like La Rotunde . The songs, “Ko Ko Ri Ko” and “Qui qu’a vu Coco,”  led to her nickname,”Coco.”

She got rich off of inexpensive fabric.
Back in the 1920s, jersey was used primarily to make men’s underwear. Women wore expensive dresses made out of exotic fabrics. Chanel created her styles out of jersey and the rest was history.

Hollywood did not impress her.
The film producer Samuel Goldwyn offered Chanel a contract to Hollywood twice a year and design costumes for starlets. Though some silver screen actresses became clients, she turned it down and dubbed the town “the capital of bad taste.”

She had an affair with a Nazi officer.
During World War II, Chanel was linked to a noted spy, German intelligence officer Baron Hans Günther von Dincklage. Oh, la, la.

Her first perfume, Chanel No. 5, changed the fragrance industry. Introduced in1922, it was one of the first perfumes ever to mix natural and artificial essences. It was also the first fragrance to be named after a designer.

She influenced more than just clothes.
In addition to a new type of perfume, Chanel also inspired many women to adopt other new fashion and and beauty elements like doing away with corsets, sporting the “garçon” hair style, and daring to shorten skirts so that women’s ankles could be seen.

Reinvention was the name of Chanel’s game.
At the age of 71, Chanel reopened her famous fashion house in 1954. It had been closed for 15 years during the war.

She died in style.
Coco Chanel died at the age 88 in 1971 on her bed in a room at the Ritz Hotel in Paris. She had taken up residency there 30 years prior. It’s been reported that her last words to her maid were, “You see, this is how you die.”

New Johnny Cash museum opens in Tennessee

Johnny Cash Signed Middle Finger Display with Used Guitar Pick, Millionaire Gallery

Johnny Cash Signed Middle Finger Display with Used Guitar Pick, Millionaire Gallery

Johnny Cash fans can get an up-close-and-personal look at the artists private farmhouse residence in Bon Aqua, Tennessee.

The Story Tellers Museum is in a general store that the great Red Wortham converted into a recording studio, and that Johnny Cash used as a place for local concerts. Visitors can see the historic “Little Stage” where the “Saturday Night in Hickman County” guitar pulls once took place. Johnny’s daughter, Cindy Cash, helped curators create the experience.

Inside the museum are handwritten letters and song lyrics (including the words to “Saturday Night in Hickman County,” inspired by Cash’s time in Bon Aqua), Cash memorabilia, a leaf from a rare Gutenberg Bible, which was printed in the 1450s, and the “One Piece at a Time” car, inspired by the story-song Cash recorded 40 years ago.

The Cash Hideaway Farm at Bon Aqua belonged to Johnny Cash for over thirty years. Visitors can see the place he called “the center of my universe.”

Marilyn Monroe White Fur Sitting Original by Milton H Green. Available at www.millionairegallery.com.

Marilyn Monroe fans can now see long-lost footage of the Hollywood icon shot by photographer Milton H. Greene.

According to Vanity Fair,  “beginning July 16, the Morrison Hotel Gallery at the Sunset Marquis Hotel will display some of Greene’s never-before-seen photos from these sessions in its “Some Like It Hot” exhibit. The presentation will also feature 16-mm-film footage (previewed above), showing Monroe in rare and relaxed form—mostly out of the spotlight. Among the moments Greene captured: a cheerful Monroe kissing her third husband, Arthur Miller, and greeting guests at the couple’s 1956 wedding reception; Monroe performing a musical number in the 1956 romantic comedyBus Stop; and the beauty preening between the sheets for an intimate photo shoot.”

Greene is best known for capturing some of the greatest stars of the 1950s and 1960s in his enduring portraits, including Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor, Cary Grant, Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, and Paul Newman but is most famous for his images of Monroe.

The exhibit will run through July 24.

Muhammad Ali, boxing legend, dies at 74

“I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was.”

Muhammad Ali Training Under Water Autographed Framed Display, Millionaire Gallery

Muhammad Ali Training Under Water Autographed Framed Display, Millionaire Gallery

Boxing great Muhammad Ali has died.

One of the most well-known and celebrated athletes in the 20th century, the three-time world heavyweight boxing champion was surrounded by his family during his final hours at a hospital in Scottsdale, AZ.

“The King of Trash Talk” was indomitable in the ring but took on techniques like bantering with his opponents outside of the ring with other boxing champions like Sonny Liston, Joe Frazier and George Foreman.

During his second fight with Litson, Ali landed what would be infamously dubbed “the perfect punch,” knocking Liston out in the first round. In the entirety of his career, Ali was defeated just 5 times having won an incredible 56 fights.

But boxing was just one of the many sides of Ali. Born Cassius Clay, he changed his name after joining the Nation of Islam in 1964. He also made headlines for political reasons, after refusing to fight in the Vietnam war, causing him to be exiled from boxing for three years. After his conviction was overturned in 1971, he went on to take back the World Heavyweight Champion title in 1974 and receive the Medal of Freedom in 2005.

Dedicated to his faith and humanitarian beliefs, Ali later also became an advocate for Parkinson’s awareness after being diagnosed with the disease in 1984. It was a battle he never stopped fighting.

Prince: saying goodbye to a legend

Prince original display custom designed by Millionaire Gallery

Prince original display custom designed by Millionaire Gallery

On Thursday, April 21, the world lost a legend when Prince Rogers Nelson was found dead in his Paisley Park Minnesota compound.

And despite the weight of the word, “legend” hardly seems to do him justice. Unlike so many “talents” today, Prince was more than just a performer. He was a songwriter, a producer, a singer, and a one-man studio band.

But he was also so much more than a musician. He was a humanitarian. He was an advocate for race, sex, and gender equality. He was a lover, a rebel, and a trailblazer.

He will be forever missed.
